I am a third generation Scouting leader in Sandy. My Grandma, Jackie Collinson, started in the 1970s when my Dad was a Cub. My Dad, Darren Collinson, went on to take over from her as Akela of the Norman Cub Pack when she retired. He is still a leader for the Norman Cubs.
I grew up in Scouting and have very fond memories of many camps and pack nights over the years. I was one of the first Explorers within Sandy and am proud to pop down and help out as an adult.
I spent some time living outside Bedfordshire and was a leader for a short while in Bristol before COVID-19. During which, I moved back to area and returned as a Cub leader.
When the former GSL gave in her notice, she had asked me if I would like to consider replacing her. I agreed and when she stood down, I took up the post. I am enjoying every moment of it and I look forward to many years leading the Sandy Scout Group.
